Pimms and candyfloss are two of our most favourite things – so when we heard that folk-popster Alan Pownall was holding a pish-posh Summer Fete in a London churchyard on Wednesday evening, we couldn’t resist stopping by (and having a bash on the coconut shy).
We were in good company – fellow fete attendees included label mate Pixie Lott, T4 presenter Miquita Oliver, Fearne Cotton and Alan’s ex-neighbours, Mumford and Sons – and we gave them all a run for their money on the strong man bell…
With a live set inside the church itself, Alan performed songs from his debut album True Love Stories. Highlights included upbeat ska-tinged Chasing Time, gospel-soaked Don’t You Know Me and forthcoming single Colourful Day (out 12th July).
