We have skating covered in Shepherds Bush!

This coming Christmas and New Year, Shepherds Bush Green in West London will host a fabulous new Winter Festival, London’s Ice Fayre,  with skating, fairground, Father Christmas and much more. George Irvin of Irvin Leisure has been selected by Hammersmith and Fulham Council to manage this fantastic new event, and says that the timing could not be better. Also, the giant real ice rink will be fully covered against the great British Winter Weather, and this will be the only fully covered outdoor rink in London! No excuses then.

“Despite the Credit Crunch, tens of thousands of people will be flocking to the area to visit the new Westfield Shopping Centre, the largest in Europe which has just opened, and it is hard to turn on the TV without coming across the Bush at this time so it is the perfect time to be launching our event. It will be in full swing when we are on site. After our great success at the summer festival at the same venue we are really looking forward to this.
“We were the first company to stage a major funfair on this site for nearly 10 years and everyone involved in the summer festival showed the local authority just how popular and well run a fair can be as you can see from the photo. Now we are bringing much more, and a major shopping centre has agreed to sponsor advertising for the festival so with the Ice Skating and other winter surprises we all look forward to a successful stay.
The festival and fair will open from 6th December and run right through to January 4th, so includes the popular New Year period, and the only days off will be Christmas Eve and Christmas Day so everyone can have a well deserved break. There will be on site security with public safety fences and CCTV cameras and this will deter anybody with anti social thoughts. The system worked perfectly during the summer receiving great praise from the local police and local council. There will be a token entry charge of £1 at this great addition to the West London Christmas scene and all attractions will offer value for money prices. Profits from the entry fee will go to the NSPCC and the ice skating starts at 10 each day, with the rest of the festival at noon, and then runs through to 8 pm.

Says George “We were proud that during the summer our Festival was opened by the Mayor of Hammersmith and Fulham and by the Chair of Leisure Services. We will be giving great value for money for local people at a time when we know they are worrying about finance, so give them a chance to come along and pay for just those rides they want to enjoy whilst appreciating the music and fun of this new event.”
