Great project in Chiswick

Whilst we were recently at our Spring Fair on Turnham Green we were struck by the beautiful new herbal garden that was next to us. We found out that this had been put in by the Friends of Turnham Green themselves and they kindly sent over this photo. They tell us they are going [...]

Sun’s Out, Fun’s Started this Spring

Now Spring has sprung, the grass is riz, we wonder where the people is! At last the sun has come out and the arctic blasts have blown away so crowds flocked to our fabulous spring fairs in Clapham Common and Crystal Palace. Well now it is time for the people of north London to have [...]

Wonderful Winter Wonderland

Just a few of the fantastic photos taken by our friend Desmond Fitzgerald, journalist with the Worlds Fair Newspaper, of our attractions in the superb Winter Wonderland event in Hyde Park where each Christmas we are proud to provide a range of traditional games and entertainment that your Edwardian forefathers could have enjoyed. With these [...]

Leicester City get their skates on.

As the club football team climbs high and sits proudly in the play off places in the Championship, and whilst they pinch a late point at home to Barnsley, Leicester City once again staged their Winter Wonderland event for supporters and local people at the attractive Walkers Stadium, and [...]

We have had another Art Attack

Regular readers of these pages (should such a person exist) will know that we were thrilled to find on display a marvellous painting of our Helter Skelter as it stood in Hyde Park for the Royal Wedding last year. Now we have another artist who has taken time to sketch our attractions, this time in [...]

Happy Birthday from Irvin Leisure

We are often invited to provide rides for birthday parties, but not usually for birthday parties for major London Shopping Malls! That was why we were delighted to provide one of our wonderful Victorian Carousels for the first birthday party of the very new, very modern, Westfield Centre in Stratford.   How some of you [...]

We will drive you round the bend

A lot of people have been driven around the bend by us over the years, so we are told, but now you won’t mind if we do as we have sponsored one of the key roundabouts in Brent. Not quite Buckingham Palace as a tourist attraction, nor the London Eye, but the Barham Park [...]

Weather does not detract from wonderful Canada Day celebrations.

You may have noticed it is slightly damp at present, but nothing dampened the enthusiasm of the crowds enjoying wonderful Canada Day in the heart of London, indeed in Trafalgar Square. Here is what the organisers, Rainmaker, said about it, and can we just say they not only organise a great event but their company [...]

Goodwood, good grief

Some times we have good ideas (well, we think so) and sometimes other people have great ideas. However things work best when we and others get our heads together and come up with a cracker, and for the Goodwood Festival of Speed this year our friends from TRO worked with us to produce mini minis. [...]

Our Contribution to British Art

Strolling through the heart of London, as you do, we were surprised, and delighted, to see the above painting of George Irvin’s Traditional Helter Skelter standing in Hyde Park for the Royal Wedding last year. The painting was in pride of place in the window of Messum’s Gallery in Cork Street, London, W15. The painting [...]

Irvin Leisure, on the ropes

Well it has finally happened, we are on the ropes now, but not in the financial sense or as in a boxer wobbling towards defeat, but in a healthy, active and fun sort of way as we introduce yet another startling addition to our ever expanding range of [...]

Some more tales from the Irvin Family History

We have just come across some press cuttings related to the Irvin family history and links to the past and wanted to share them with our loyal reader. First of all, the next George Irvin is a direct descendant of Frank Wilson, described in the press upon his sad death (fortunately not from a hungry [...]

Important Travel Information for Winter Wonderland

Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park is now thriving and sometimes gets very busy, so we suggest that you look at alternative stations to Hyde Park Corner when you come along. For instance, Green Park Station on the Jubilee and Victoria Lines is only 10 minutes away and Marble Arch and Lancaster Gate on the [...]

Is there anybody there?

From time to time when it is quiet here in the Irvin Leisure office we ponder the truly important philosophical questions. For instance, what is the meaning of life? If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?
