Clapham Weekender with Fat Boy Slim

From: August 29th, 2010
To: August 29th, 2010

With SW4 now extending across two unforgettable days, we needed an act that has been there, seen it and done it all to close the festival. That man is Fatboy Slim.

One of the greatest songwriters of the modern era, not to mention his remixing mastery – Fatboy Slim is the biggest DJ on the planet. From DJing in front of 250,000 people on Brighton Beach and the Rio Carnival, through to headlining the world’s leading concerts and festivals – Fatboy Slim has done it all. With an astounding ability to connect with thousands of people in one instant, he is the ultimate performer. Do not miss his only London appearance for 2010 as he closes the SW4 Weekend!

“We’ve been doing a beach party in Brighton for the last few years, but we can’t do it this year so my big Southern England show is Clapham Common. This means we can let our hair down, let loose and spend all the money that I would have spent on lighting up Brighton beach on lighting up the Common!.. It was mayhem when I played in Clapham before so I’m expecting controlled mayhem in the sunshine... Expect the full Fatboy summer extravaganza! Me DJing, big screens, big visuals, big lazers, inflatable dancing pigs and again, lots of bells and whistles.” Fatboy Slim

Carnaval Del Pueblo Burgess Park

To: August 1st, 2010

Fantastic Carnival celebrating South American culture in the heart of south London, nearest postcode SE5 0RJ.

Magnificent celebration of Latin America in south London and it would not be untrue to say that this is your author's favourite function of the entire year. Not just because the wonderful George Irvin's Funfair section of this celebration of Latin America or the variety of stage acts and food from around the world that you can find, or because of the festival atmosphere and the tens of thousands of happy and well behaved visitors it attracts, but because it gives me an excuse to scan the internet for scantily dressed dancers to illustrate this fun festival in Rio de Burgess Park, off the Costa Walworth Road.

The image shown, purely in the interests of mutli cultural understanding as you will appreciate, is in fact from Rio de Janeiro but who cares?

Barham Park School and Bank Holiday Fair

From: May 20th, 2010

Late Spring Bank Holiday and School Half Term Fair in our favourite north London park, off the Harrow Road by the roundabout. This fair opens daily from 2pm to 11pm and there is a £1 entrance fee for your safety, the profits from this go to the historic Wembley Hospital appeal.

Every year we come back to Barham Park which is without doubt our favourite venue in north London and demonstrates every day why Brent council keeps winning London in Bloom. Every year we tell you the story of George Barham who made a fortune by founding Express Dairies and bringing fresh milk to London by train to replace the sour white gloop being drunk by the sour white Londoners of Victorian times.

Every year we tell you how his house and gardens were given to the Council and how the house fell down, made as it was from Cheese Straws perhaps, but the gardens and the stables are still there. So now I have told you again and next year this article will consist of questions to make sure you are reading it!

However, more importantly every year thousands of local people visit our fair and have a great day out in wonderful Barham Park. The photo shows the wonderful walled garden and it is blooming splendid as you can see.

The fair is opposite Sudbury Underground Station just off the Harrow Road (A404) by the roundabout, and the post code is HA0 2HB.

Hampton Court Easter Fair

From: April 2nd, 2010
To: April 6th, 2010

Annual wonderful Easter Fair at historic site. Hope you like the photo, because do not hedge your bets, our fair is A Mazeing! As is this at the Palace over the road.

Historic Annual Fair at wonderful Hampton Court Palace. For more information on this magnificent event visit www.hamptoncourtfunfair.com. This fair can trace it's history back over 120 years to a time when a fairground operator saved the life of the son of the Keeper of the Palace by jumping in the Thames and stopping him drowning. That act of bravery has allowed you all to come and visit Hampton Court, and whilst King Henry VIII will not be there with his Block and Axe stall, and we cannot recreate the Victorian Games because most of them would be illegal and even more immoral, this is still a lot of fun at London's favourite value for money fair.

We have a special Charity Tuesday on April 6th where you can buy a wristband for only £2 and then enjoy all the rides for just £1, dodgem car £1.50,  so giving great value for money. All profits from the wristbands will go to the Historic Royal Palaces Fund to support their membership scheme and keep access to the historic buildings available for those on low income.

Make a day of this, and visit the Palace, enjoy local shops and cafes, and have a few hours at the fair in the best part of London, in the shadow of this historic venue. The fair is open every day from Good Friday April 2nd to Tuesday April 6th, 12 noon to 11 pm daily. It is an honour for us to be here, and we look forward to welcoming you.

St Patrick's Day, Willesden Green

From: March 17th, 2010
To: March 17th, 2010

For St Patrick's Day Willesden Green will turn green! Once again we are delighted to bring our children's attractions to Willesden Green in the heart of Brent, an area with strong links to the Irish Community in London, to celebrate St Patrick's Day on March 17th.

There has been a long standing tradition in Brent of celebrating the life of the many and varied communities who live there, with Eid, Diwali, Fireworks Night, Christmas and more besides, and St Patrick's Day stands alongside these.

We confess we have once cheated slightly by showing the St Patrick's Day Parade from New York rather than from New Willesden Green Library Centre, but the point is still the same and it is great fun for all. Also we would have no objection to New York showing photos of our fun fairground attractions in north London on their website.

Clapham Common Spring Half Term Fair

To: February 21st, 2010

Winter Wonderland- Hyde Park

From: November 21st, 2009
To: January 3rd, 2010

Irvin Leisure are proud to be back as the central fairground feature at the fabulous Winter Wonderland Event in Hyde Park. This will once again focus on the ice rink which can quite rightly be described as "The biggest and best".

The George Irvin Carousel and Victorian Helter Skelter will catch the eye, along with our specially themed Children’s Rides and, new for 2009, our traditional Victorian Fairground games in the End of the Pier Marquee! Win a wonderful prize by testing your skills.

Back by popular demand, the iconic 53 metre Giant Wheel will yet again offer magnificent views over the Capital. This year’s toboggan slide promises to be even more thrilling than last year, and it doesn’t stop there: WINTER WONDERLAND will once again have traditional and modern attractions & the introduction of many new ones. There will be an even wider variety of themed rides for children.

WINTER WONDERLAND will see the return of the authentic German Market which will double in size, and offer a staggering variety of arts & crafts stalls, as well as Germanic food & beverages offering an atmospheric setting for Christmas shopping. As well as perennial favourites such as German sausages, mulled wine & hot chocolate, WINTER WONDERLAND 2009 will offer a vastly increased variety of festive catering from around the world: ranging from food stalls to heated cafes and fully seated diners: to beautifully presented indoor & outdoor bars offering food and drink to enjoy at the event, as well the opportunity to buy gourmet gifts to take home with you. And do not miss Hansel and Gretal's Food Stall, opposite the Roller Coaster, and the Candyfloss Sweet Stalls opposite the Carousel as you will not find better value for money anywhere in Hyde Park. (These, you will not be surprised to hear, are ours too!)

A visit to WINTER WONDERLAND wouldn’t be complete without meeting Santa (named ‘Best Outdoor Experience’ by Time Out’s ‘Good Santa Guide’) and once again this will be free! Father Christmas will be at the Hyde Park in Santaland with his elves every day, right up until Christmas Eve. You might even get a special gift from him, if you’ve been good boys and girls! I didn't!

Zippo's famous circus is part of Winter Wonderland 2009 with special festive performances, and the circus can be found right next door to our End of the Pier display. So play our games and then go and catch a show.

The magical atmosphere of WINTER WONDERLAND comes alive in the evenings when choirs perform and the trees along the Serpentine Road sparkle with thousands of Christmas lights, highlighting the beauty of London’s best loved park. As the Daily Express wrote London’s Winter Wonderland is the perfect event for families, friends and colleagues to delight in the magical atmosphere of London this Christmas’.

WINTER WONDERLAND is free to enter with tokens for all rides and attractions available for purchase on the day, however advance booking is available and is strongly recommended for the ice rink and giant wheel. Everything else is pay on the day, no need to book, so come down to this value for money family day out in the heart of London.

Firework Nights in Kent and Richmond

From: November 7th, 2009
To: November 8th, 2009

How wonderful to be able to tell you, oh loyal reader of this website, that in 2009 we are helping at two brand new firework festivals, being staged for the very first time. More details to follow but mark these in your diary at once!

First of all on Saturday November 7th we will be providing a superb fair at the Richmond Athletics Club ground, in Richmond, London (not Yorkshire in case you live in the north! Sorry about that if you do! Not sorry that you live in the north of course, but sorry you wont be able to make our fireworks event) I will come back with times and prices in a day or so when the excitement of learning about this new venture wears off, but put that in your diary anyway.

The second is in Tunbridge Wells, and is on Sunday 8th November and once again you will have to control your excitement while I get all the information together to tell you about.

Irvin Leisure, as we have said before, loves to contribute to the multi cultural society in which we live by providing entertainment for Eidh, for Diwali, and to commemorate the tradition of burning of Catholics so popular 400 years ago. Mind you, Guy Fawkes did deserve this fate because who in their right mind would think it was a legitimate past time to blow up MPs? Well, everyone nowdays I suppose, but a bit extreme for overclaiming on their expenses in the early 17th century really, they could just have published in the Stuart dynasty equivalent of the Daily Telegraph.

Roundwood Park Fireworks

From: November 5th, 2009
To: November 5th, 2009

Every year the London Borough of Brent provides a fabulous bonfire night party and always keep to November 5th as they are traditionalists and proud of it (so are we!)

Once again Irvin Leisure will provide a children's fair for this festival, with kiddie rides and games plus all your favourite fairground food. Low price to enter and special prices on all the rides and attractions this is a very popular family day out in one of London's best kept parks. Not far from Harlsden and a gnats spit from Willesden, Roundwood Park Annual Guy Fawkes night party is an evening to remember for everyone lucky enough to attend.

In case we forget why we will be in Roundwood Park, the picture is of poor old Guy himself! Prior to getting roasted.

Thornbury Park Bonfire Night, Isleworth, Hounslow

From: November 5th, 2009
To: November 5th, 2009

Back by popular request (well, we like it anyway!)

In Thornbury Park you can come and enjoy a safe and spectacular fireworks show and then ride your fairground favourites, with children's and kiddie attractions, all time hits such as the Dodgem Bumper Cars and White Knuckle Thrillers for the brave, so something for everyone. The entrance is opposite the Fire Station in London Road, nearest station is Hounslow East or Hounslow Central on the Underground, and B R Isleworth or Hounslow. Buses are 235, 237 and 635.

Marshmallows added to all food on sale and seasonal surprises too. What are you waiting for? Hurry down to Thornbury Park.

Diwali in Brent

From: October 10th, 2009
To: October 11th, 2009

This fantastic day will begin with a Rangoli competition at Ealing Road library, which will run throughout the afternoon, providing a fantastic opportunity to see this stunning Indian art form in detail.

Later people have the chance to marvel a Brent's majestic Ealing road parade that will showcase a combination of floats, musicians and dance performances along the route.

The parade then leads the audience to Barham Park where the event will culminate in a fireworks display as well as George Irvin's fabulous funfair.

Turnham Green, Chiswick

From: September 24th, 2009
To: September 27th, 2009

Once again we find ourselves when the leaves are falling in wonderful Turnham Green, Chiswick, adjacent to the historic church and close to the cricket ground, for a value for money Autumn festival.

Open every day from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. with special prices of £1 once you purchase a wristband for just £1 from the Dodgem pay box, this is great value (the Booster will be £2 per ride, but what a superb bargain that is!) so this will be the best value for money day out for families and children in London this Autumn.

The fair can be found opposite W H Smith in Chiswick High Road and there is no cost to enter this wonderful fairground site. Turnham Green is a historic site for fairs in London when coaches used to stop on their way to the Races at Ascot and Epsom and the fairground staff sought to encourage them to stop gambling by spending all their money at the fair before they went. Nowadays there is no gamble at all in visiting George Irvin's wonderful family fair.

Historic Street Fair in Amersham. Not to be missed. In 1200, King John granted Amersham a market and fair, which is still held every year when rides and stalls occupy the High Street. stretching the whole length of the town. Obviously King John is better known for the Magna Carta which grants rights to all the citizens of the country and is totally down on the concept popular at the time of chopping the hands off the common people at the whim of the local Baron, but that was signed in 1215 so Amersham Fair stretches back even further, and everyone has to keep their hands off this event, as opposed to keeping their hands on!
So come and enjoy this traditional street fair, one of the oldest in Britain and with great up to date entertainment to add to the history of this fun fair!

Irvin Leisure are proud to provide family fun equipment for the Samaritans of Lewisham, Greenwich and Southwark Community Funday. This will be staged from 12 noon to 5 pm in Fordham Park, New Cross, Lewisham, SE14 6LU and will be a great day of fun with live entertainment, children's activities, food, refreshments and community stalls.

The Samaritans are celebrating 40 years of service helping those in particular need of a friendly voice with whom they can talk and support and guidance in times of need. So this is your chance to go and thank them for their help; help the organisation build up their finances, and have a great day out too!

Barham Park August Bank Holiday Fair

From: August 20th, 2009
To: August 31st, 2009

August bank holiday fair in Barham Park, Wembley.

Meanwhile visit this value for money family fair with lots to do for everyone for Bank Holiday weekend and school holiday period, open daily from 1 pm to 11 pm. Rather than show a picture of a  pint of milk we show an early flyer from the company. Please do not use contact number on this or you will be 80 years out of date. In fact, it is so out of date there were not even any phones then, mobile or otherwise.

Mile End Islamic Relief Fair

From: August 9th, 2009
To: August 9th, 2009

New festival on behalf of Islamic Relief in Mile End Park, running from 11 am to 6 pm with almost guaranteed good weather (fingers crossed) and as well as a fine selection of our children's and family attractions you will find stalls, food, light refreshments and a great community atmosphere in a superb park in the heart of East London.
We are proud to take part in this celebration and help them raise funds for essential causes as part of the Irvin Leisure community programme. To give some information on the importance of their work, we list below quotes from Islamic Relief's latest priority appeal for Pakistan.

In a highly volatile region where very few trust outsiders, Islamic Relief is on the ground and will be providing aid to those who need it.  The displaced people need you to give generously to get them through this extremely difficult period. They urgently need food, shelter, and medical services.

So visit Mile End, have a great time and help in this vital work.

Carnaval del Pueblo

From: August 2nd, 2009
To: August 2nd, 2009

Lovebox Festival Victoria Park

From: July 18th, 2009
To: July 19th, 2009

Whilst some people think of Eastenders as a miserable group who we watch on TV three times a week and whose main role in life is to cheer us up as we do not have to live in Walford, when we think of Eastenders we remember those many thousands who join us at the fantastic Lovebox festival in Victoria Park in the heart of the East End of London.

Lovebox is a great festival with fantastic bands, entertainment and of course George Irvin's fun rides as we believe we put the festivity into this festival once more. So visit their website http://www.lovebox.net/weekender/12 for more information and also visit the Festival. You will not have a better time this summer with your clothes on!

There will be a wide range of acts, with Pigeon Detectives, Echo and the Bunnymen, Noah and the Whale and many more too and for more information visit their website www.hopfarmfestival.com to find out more.

Actually the website itself is a real laugh and most entertaining; better than the TV most evenings! So get on that site pronto because tickets are selling faster than hot cakes at £65 for a day or £125 for a weekend (not that many people buy hot cakes for 65 quid but you know what we mean!)

Gladstone Park Summer Fair

From: June 21st, 2009
To: June 21st, 2009

Gladstonebury Festival day arrives once more in Gladstone Park where, instead of rolling in mud and listening to highly paid groups in Glastonebury you can come and enjoy the real thing (whatever that thing is) in Gladstone Park in Cricklewood. The Friends of the Park once again have organised a summer fete (not one worse than death either) with a wide variety of stalls, food and refreshments and music, whilst we arrange a collection of superb rides and attractions for all the family. Free entry to the festival and the fair and great value day out for everyone in this lovely north London park, with historic Dollis Hill House, home of the Earl of Gladstone the famous 19th Century Prime Minister, at the top of the hill and the Walled Garden alongside that should be one of the Seven Wonders of the World, with the recreation of the Victorian Garden that Gladstone himself would have enjoyed.
We show a picture of Gladstone, and what a cheery chap he looks. Must have been when he found out his expenses claim for a new Duck Pond had been rejected!

Barham Park Spring Bank Holiday Fair

From: May 22nd, 2009
To: May 31st, 2009

School half term holiday and bank holiday fair.

Meanwhile visit this value for money family fair with lots to do for everyone for Bank Holiday weekend and the half term school holiday period.

Pinner Fair 2009

From: May 27th, 2009
To: May 27th, 2009

The 2009 Pinner Fair this year will be staged on May 27th, and will be better than ever offering great value for money to local families. The event will be organised by the Showman’s Guild of Great Britain, the trade association for all the country’s top Fairground Companies, who will as always work with Officers and Councillors from Harrow Council.

Pinner Fair has a history dating right back to 1336 when King Edward III granted a charter to the Lord of the Manor of Harrow, at that time John, Archbishop of Canterbury, for two fairs per year plus a number of markets each week. Presumably some favours were given in exchange but it is a little late for an investigation into 14th century bungs, so just come down and have a wonderful time enjoying this tradition as this annual fair on the Wednesday after Whitsun is the only surviving legacy of this act of Royal generosity. In fact is the last remaining street fair in the county boundary of Middlesex, so is a unique as well as pleasurable day out!

Fairs have of course changed rather a lot over the centuries and most of the entertainment provided for 680 years would now be illegal, and all of it immoral, you will still have a fantastic time with the widest and best variety of attractions you will find with superb children’s rides, thrilling white knuckle experiences for the brave, and family favourites such as Carousels, Dodgem Cars, games and stalls for everyone.

For many years this fair has been run by a partnership between the London Borough of Harrow and the Showmen’s Guild but now the Guild will take over all the operation and funding of this fantastic event, and the Council’s support in this is very much appreciated. The Guild, which has existed for over 120 years, is the national body who work with the government to ensure fairground safety and quality is improved and enhanced and are delighted to be ensuring the continuation of this fabulous festival in north west London. So put May 27th in your diary now and hurry to Pinner to be one of the millions of delighted visitors stretching back to King Edwards’s time. For those of you who like history, Edward III came over 100 years after King John, who gave us civil rights with the granting of the Magna Carta. Edward gave us Pinner Fair! Whose legacy is the greater?

Turnham Green, Chiswick

From: May 13th, 2009
To: May 17th, 2009

Our wonderful Spring Fair on this lovely open space, close to Chiswick High Road, returns once more with a wide range of traditional and family favourite rides. With free entry to the fairground this traditional family function dates back over 150 years to when showmen used to gather to meet the coach parties travelling out of London to the Surrey Racecourses. Probably did better as they were travelling to the races than when they were coming back if Victorian Bookies and pickpockets were as effective at depriving the public of their purses as Dickens will have us believe.
This is a lovely part of London, in Chiswick High Street and adjacent to a village green and church with the best coffee shops in Britain just a short walk away. So come to Chiswick, enjoy the fair of course, and enjoy the High Street which is a jewel in the heart of West London. As am I.

Roundwood Park Spring and May Bank Holiday Fair

From: May 1st, 2009
To: May 10th, 2009

Spring and May Day Bank Holiday Fair in Roundwood Park, and closed on 5th, 6th and 7th of May. Great fun and great value with only £1 to enter the fair (profits from this to Mayor of Brent's Charity Appeal) and superb value for money on all the rides.

This year the fair will be open on Bank Holiday Monday 4th May so do come along as this is the most popular event in Roundwood Park each year (apart from some of the others but never mind, it is certainly the most popular fair in Roundwood Park that is open on Bank Holiday Monday May 4th!)

We have a special price Friday each week, where you can buy a wristband for just £1 and enjoy all the rides for half price, so that cannot be beaten anywhere for great value, or nowhere in Roundwood Park on May 1st and 8th anyway! Do come along and join the fun and while you are in the park enjoy the wonderful cafe and admire Brent Council's award winning floral displays...the very best in London and on that we cannot be challenged.

Town Lane Recreation Ground Fair, Stanwell

From: May 8th, 2009
To: May 10th, 2009

Annual Funfair with a history dating back well over 100 years, in this lovely little park in Spelthorne. Great day out and great value for all the family. The photo shows one of our rides in Stanwell in 1902 and this is one of our most treasured possessions. Apart from the Carousel of course, and the Booster and Dodgems and other expensive rides! One of our most treasured photos then.
The Council actually considered not having fairs for 2009 but this now returns by popular demand, and it was not just us popularly demanding it! Local Councillors, residents and even MPs supported the continuation of the fairs when Spelthorne reviewed their events programme and we are delighted to be back once more.

Morden Hall Park May Day Festival

From: May 2nd, 2009
To: May 4th, 2009

For the first time Irvin Leisure are thrilled to be participating in the annual May Day Weekend Festival at historic and unusual National Trust owned Morden Hall in Morden (of course!). This festival has been popular with the public for many years but in 2009 we are delighed to be bringing some children's and family attractions to add to the crafts and the fun of this frolicking Spring Fest.

Just a little about Morden Hall, The Morden Estate was originally owned by Westminster Abbey and has survived four centuries of change, reflected in the history of its buildings.

Morden Hall, built in 1770, has seen a variety of uses from a family home to a boarding school for young gentlemen and even a military hospital during the First World War. Many of the other estate buildings, including two 18th-century cottages, are gathered around the two water mills, which until 1922 were used for grinding snuff. Visitors can still see the original waterwheel that once turned the massive millstones to crush tobacco into a fine powder. Before the tobacco was ground it was dried in kilns - these are visible from the bridge. Today one of the mills houses the Snuff Mill, now used as an Environmental Centre, is a study centre for children from the local area.

Morden Cottage was home to Gilliat Hatfeild, who considered the cottage better suited to a bachelor than the Hall. He was a keen huntsman and fisherman, attracted to the idea of being a country gentleman. Many of the buildings on the estate reflect his interests, including gatehouses, lodges and a stable block built for his hunting horses, which has a weather vane in the shape of a trout. Even the former Dairy was converted for trout breeding. The formal garden of the cottage is surrounded by an unusual collection of ornamental trees, including one of the oldest yews in England. Morden Cottage is currently empty but the premises will shortly be refurbished. In 1941 Gilliat Hatfeild left the core of the estate (125 acres) to the National Trust.

But this year you will not be able to go hunting in the park, just hunting for a great day out in wonderful surroundings in the heart of South London. To learn more visit http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/main/w-mordenhallpark-2

Hampton Court Easter Fair

From: April 10th, 2009
To: April 14th, 2009

We have a special Charity Tuesday on April 14th where you can buy a wristband for only £2 and then enjoy all the rides for half price so giving great value for money.
It is an honour for us to be here, and we look forward to welcoming you.

St Patrick's Day in Brent

From: March 17th, 2009
To: March 17th, 2009

Once again we are delighted to bring our children's attractions to Willesden Green in the heart of Brent, an area with strong links to the Irish Community in London, to celebrate St Patrick's Day on March 17th.

There has been a long standing tradition in Brent of celebrating the life of the many and varied communities who live there, with Eid, Diwali, Fireworks Night, Christmas and more besides, and St Patrick's Day stands alongside these.

We confess we have cheated slightly by showing the St Patrick's Day Parade from New York rather than from New Willesden Green Library Centre, but the point is still the same and it is great fun for all.

This festival is sponsored by West 12, the other superb value shopping centre on the Green.

Hurry down and enjoy this fantastic event, if you do not want to skate then watch your pals!

Children's Festival Hackney Marshes

From: October 4th, 2008
To: October 5th, 2008

Parents For Children is excited to launch the Four2Go Race Series and Family Festival on Saturday, October 4, 2008 and then run a fabulous family fair on the Sunday afterwards.

Four2Go marks the 4 year countdown to the London 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games. The race is located around the beautiful Lee Valley Park & future Olympic Park, with celebrations taking place at the finish line on Hackney Marshes. After the inaugural Five2Go pilot event last year, Four2Go aims to build on this success and expand the project by adding an inclusive and accessible Family Festival, featuring a FunFair provided by Irvin Leisure, live music and entertainment, sports events and a real carnival atmosphere for the local community.

Parents For Children is a non-profit foster and adoption organisation that specializes in finding loving homes for children with special needs. These children can not always find homes through the local authorities due to complex health issues, challenging behaviours and disabilities.

Four2Go reflects the work of the charity by ensuring that the whole event is accessible to people with limited abilities, with sensory equipment, accessible fairground attractions and non-competitive sports activities.

Admission to the Family Festival is free and the event is open to the general public, so come along and get involved with the local community to support a good cause.

Chiswick Autumn Fair

From: September 24th, 2008
To: September 28th, 2008

Once again we return to lovely Turnham Green, a quiet space in Chiswick. We often think that Turnham Green, with the church and the cricket pitch alongside, are a touch of the village life come to the heart of London.

There have been funfairs at Turnham Green for well over 150 years now since Chiswick was the stopping off point for stagecoaches on there way to the racing at Ascot and a group of intrepid fairground operators built up in the village to try, in the interests of opposing gambling of course, to convince them to pass over their money for other forms of entertainment.

Now we have a fabulous family fair twice a year, and the Autumn visit is particularly special for us. So come down to Turnham Green and enjoy the late sunny weather. We hope.

Countryside Day in Brent, Fryent Way

From: September 19th, 2008
To: September 19th, 2008

In the heart of north London, close to the new Wembley Stadium home of England's greatest football triumphs (well, matches I suppose) you can find the countryside comes to town each September and we are always pleased to be invited to this fun festival of the countryside in Brent.

The council even lay on special buses for you to reach the Country Park, from Kingsbury Station and from Preston Road and Wembley Park.

There will be live music and we are featuring the fabulous Wall of Death Motor Cycle Track which, if you have never seen one in action, is well worth the visit on its own. Motorcyclists race around a giant circle defying gravity with the skill and courage that motorcyclists think they have as they race around the country park at night defying parks staff (we do not approve of this latter activity by the way, they all get caught and end up racing mop buckets around the halls of the youth justice system) and the Wall of Death is worth the trip on it's own.

However Fryent Country Park is the green jewel in the heart of Brent, so come down to this fun day out, the best of the year in Wembley (well, have you seen the national soccer team lately?)
