We shall remember them!

As you will know, the First World War started 100 years ago and this is a time when we all look back and think of those brave soldiers who went to war to help create our future. Millions from many countries did not return and their sacrifice, and that of their families, is something we do respect.

We found this photograph of a relative of the Irvins at war in the first world war, clearly in Egypt, Sammy Mayne, and he is on the right of the photo as you look at it. In peace time he operated a helter skelter, which would have been much smoother than the camel!

WW1

What courage all our troops showed. How we must admire and thank them.
